Keeping It Real, is the House of Praise Charlton forum for single Christians, where issues pertaining to living a fruitful Christian way of life is addressed.
The forum is for singles between the ages of 18-29. Within this age group are the vibrant vessels; ages 18-24 and Pillars of Praise; ages 25-29. Keepin It Real by God’s grace has taken off far better than expected and has developed into a tight close knit family of single Christians. Since the beginning of the year, Keeping It Real has generated a substantial amount of interest amongst the singles and is responsible, in part, for the excitement and buzz running through the singles at HOP right now.
The forum holds every Sunday at 6pm, adopting an interactive and unique format which still retains crucial principles necessary for spiritual growth. It allows singles to dig into the WORD and address various issues relating to singles today. Furthermore, the format ensures a sound delivery of the core message with sublime use of interactive Q&A sessions, alongside bible teachings.
To date, several topics relating to the life of singles have been discussed, e.g. ‘triumphing over sin’, ‘marriage’, ‘triumphing over finance’, ‘triumphing over sexual temptation’, ‘how to hear God’, ‘steps to spiritual growth’ (Galatians 5), etc. These topics have been a blessing in helping single Christians to deal with the everyday battles faced by us in the world today. As singles, we may find ourselves often bewildered by the partnership ascribed by God for our lives; hence we need spiritual guidance either through fellowship or mentoring.
I strongly believe Keepin It Real provides an avenue for us to channel our focus onto walking WITH God as single Christians. (Psalm 15- O lord, who shall ascend onto your holy sanctuary? Who may dwell in that holy hill? He whose walk is blameless and does what is right...)
Moreover, the forum has helped singles network socially, for example, during the valentine weekend, the singles went out to dinner at the O2; an outing that truly showed the close bonding by the singles. There was an impressive turnout of more than 100 people, a figure that showcases God’s work in the single’s ministry. Other social events include birthday celebrations, barbecue gatherings etc.
The support from the church has been tremendous; the fact that our Pastors have specifically set aside the final day of the 10th year Total Women’s Anniversary Conference for the singles by organizing a formal ball on a boat cruise shows how much they care for the ministry.
As a church, we believe being single is an opportunity to set time out for God and serve him wholeheartedly, so I appeal to any single who needs fellowship, thirsts for revival, or hungers for spiritual growth to come and partake and experience God’s work in House Of Praise, Charlton where we are Single and Loving it !!!
"Keeping it Real" meet every Sunday at 6pm at House of Praise
